Timothy Strauss graduated from Valparaiso University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Theology. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Central Michigan University. Mr. Strauss has a long history of working with children and teenagers and has specialized in this area.
In 1985, he founded Joy Valley Counseling Services, in Petoskey, Michigan. In that tradition, Mr. Strauss continues as the Director of Joy Valley providing a wide range of counseling services.He specializes in the treatment and assessment of children, adolescents and teenagers.Mr. Strauss has consulted in the Midwest United States on a variety of topics including Clergy Sexual Misconduct, and Conflict Management in Churches and Businesses.He received his training as a consultant from the Alban Institute.
In his clinical practice, Mr. Strauss is often sought as a speaker to parent groups and schools on such issues as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, behavior management, and effective parenting.He has worked with juvenile probate courts to help diagnosis and treat troubled teens.Mr. Strauss has returned often as a speaker at annual state conferences for professionals on the topic of teen suicide prevention.
Over the years, Mr. Strauss has provided consultation services for churches (direct care for congregations), pastors and their families (focusing on stress and burnout prevention), and conducting psychological evaluations for candidates seeking ordination.In his daily practice, Mr. Strauss brings clinical sophistication combined with Christian sensitivity to all his care for clients.
